26 Lessons

Well, November 25th has snuck on me again and as I turn 26, I wanted to take another moment to pause and reflect on the life lessons that are helping me find myself.

26 Lessons

If there’s one thing about me (and there is always one thing about me…lol), it’s that I am very philosophical and passionate about self-development. Every single time, I try to take stock of my learnings and experiences and throughout all the years of doing that, I make notes in my phone of things that struck a cord and made me stop to think about it.

Well, November 25th has snuck on me again and as I turn 26, I wanted to take another moment to pause and reflect on the life lessons that are helping me find myself.

If it looks sad, it needs water.  A good rule for houseplants and humans.
Watch what you eat, and I am not talking about food alone. It’s important that everything you consume is healthy for your spirit, body, and soul.
Embrace the fluidity of life. Things change. Times change. People change. Fighting it is pointless. So, adapt and grow with it.
To an overthinking mind, reassurance is a soothing balm. There is no such thing as over communicating with us.
‘Boring is relative’. Never feel pressured to switch up your routine because someone or a group of people term it boring. So far it brings you joy and peace, you don’t need anyone’s approval.
Always carry a perfume and sanitizer in your bag
You will never regret going to see your parents or making family a priority.
Ask questions. Stay Curious. That’s how you learn and grow.
Respect others' time and space by avoiding calls before 8 AM and after 9 PM. After two unanswered attempts, leave a message unless the person has your kidney, then keep blasting.
Regularly unplug. Turn your phone off, turn everything off.
Build a few valuable relationships. Read more on my lessons on friendship here.
Google everything. 'I don’t know' is not an excuse not to know.
You don’t fully discover yourself. I don’t know what age that happens, but it’s definitely not in your twenties. Learn to move on and start over as many times as you wish.
Move with crazy confidence, one that can only be backed by God.
Having a mind of your own will save you a lot of stress as an adult.
If you find yourself looking for a tool to solve a problem, you’re probably just procrastinating.
Money isn’t the most important thing, but it can absolutely buy happiness.
You can be a good person with a good heart and still say no.
Never loan a money you can’t let go of. Especially in this present economy.
Your body, your choice. Don't let anyone pressure you into sex if you're not comfortable with it.
Know how to make one signature dish. You don’t have to be perfect at cooking.
Don’t stay in a job you hate. But before you leave, ensure you have a backup.
Sit with your feelings, for once in your life.
Say I love you often.
It doesn’t matter what the meeting is about, if you randomly chime in with ‘ it’s just about finding that balance’ people will always agree.
You haven’t met half of the people that will love you in this lifetime.

Happy birthday to me!
