Everything I’m reading in November
Here’s to reading more, scrolling a little less, and finding new stories to fall in love with.
I love November so much! It’s the second-to-last month of the year, which means the festive spirit is aggressively taking over. People are making December plans, putting together their holiday mood boards, and generally finding reasons to be outside. In Lagos, it’s fashion week season, the concert calendar is filling up, and everyone is trying to squeeze in a little more fun before the year ends. And, of course, it’s my birth month. What’s not to love?
Anyway, somewhere between all the excitement, I’ve decided to make room for one of my favorite hobbies - reading books.
As someone who loves to read, I’ve been putting together my November reading list, and I thought I’d share it. It feels like a particularly good time to do so, too.
More people seem to be finding their way back to books, picking up novels, subscribing to Substack newsletters, and rediscovering blogs. I love that. Because not everything needs to be a video, a reel, or something playing in the background. Sometimes, you just want to sit down and read.
So, if you’re looking for your next good book or trying to find your way out of a reading slump, perhaps you’ll find something here. These are the books keeping me company this November.
1. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

This was my October read, and I loved every bit of it. Last year, I discovered something about myself: I love psychological thrillers. There’s something so fascinating about the mind of a psychopath and how their world works. My husband jokes that there’s something wrong with me, and to be honest, I’m totally okay with that.
If this is your vibe, add it to your list. It has the kind of plot that makes you want to keep reading just one more chapter, even when you should probably be doing something else. I’m still thinking about that ending.
2. Loved One by Aisha Muharrar
This is one I’m particularly looking forward to. Humans are complex creatures, and I enjoy a book that explores relationships, love, and all the complicated ways we experience being human. I’m going into this one with high expectations.

3. For One More Day by Mitch Albom
One of my best books this year was Tuesday by Morrie, written by the same author, Mitch Albom. I have started reading, and so far so good. The book is a good reminder to appreciate the people we have while we have them.
4. Anxious People by Fredrik Backman
I’ve heard so many good things about this book. It’s a story about a failed bank robbery, a group of strangers, and an open house that goes completely wrong. It sounds wonderfully chaotic, but underneath the humour is a story about people, their fears, and the things they carry around with them. I’m very curious.
5. Just Kids by Patti Smith
I’ve wanted to read this memoir for a while. Patti Smith writes about her life and her relationship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in New York’s art scene. I love reading about creative people and the lives they build, so this feels like exactly the kind of book I want to get lost in.
And that’s my November reading list. Honestly, I might end up reading like two because of my busy work schedule, but it’s something I look forward to. Here’s to reading more, scrolling a little less, and finding new stories to fall in love with. Happy November.
